By mimicking Jim Brandenburg for this project, I had a lot of fun and faced some challenges along the way. After looking through all of his series, I fell in love with all of the pictures he has taken from the Northwoods. I believed that I could take his Northwoods series and mimic it well, because we are right in the middle of the Adirondack Mountains which was a perfect starting point for me. One of the challenges I had when shooting was that it was the transition between Summer and Fall. Jim took this series the same time of the seasons, however it was difficult for me to go in and get the color changes of the leaves, as they were either almost all green and had very little color change yet. Another challenge I faced was being able to capture the appropriate lighting mixed with bringing out the texture. I became successful in mimicking his work, because I was able to go to the same places a few weeks apart and capture the photos to get the changing of the seasons. Throughout my series, it is visible to see that some pictures have more green in them because they were from the first time I went out to take photos. The ones that have a lot more fall colors and very little greens, were taken a few weeks later as everything turned. I was also successful because I stayed determine to overcome the challenges that faced me. I was able to change the settings on my camera to allow me to capture the natural lighting Jim used, as his photos were taken early in the morning, or late in the evening. I was also able to really bring out the texture in most of my photos which was a big characteristic that Jim did. Overall, I felt that I overcame the challenges that I faced and was able to become successful with the skills I learned throughout the year.
